Casting News - Sean Astin & Paul Reiser Join 'Stranger Things'; 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' Sets Returning Cast; Plus 5 More Updates!

ABC's American Crime; CBS All Access' The Good Fight; Epix's Get Shorty; FXX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia & Man Seeking Woman; HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm; Netflix's Stranger Things; and TNT's The Last Ship.



NETFLIX's STRANGER THINGS
  • Linnea Berthelsen (The Desert), Sean Astin (The Goonies) and Paul Reiser (Aliens) have joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season. Berthelsen will play Roman, an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she doesn't live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab. Astin will play Bob Newby, a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and now manages the local RadioShack. Reiser will play Dr. Owens, a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a 'clean-up' assignment tasked with containing the events of last year.
HBO's CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM
  • Jeff Garlin (The Goldbergs), Cheryl Hines (Son of Zorn), Susie Essman (Broad City), Ted Danson (The Good Place) and Mary Steenburgen (The Last Man on Earth) have closed deals to return for the comedy's upcoming ninth season. 
FXX's IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA and MAN SEEKING WOMAN
  • The cable network has announced a Wednesday, January 4 premiere date for the twelfth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (at 10/9c.) and the third season of Man Seeking Woman (at 10:30/9:30c.).
ABC's AMERICAN CRIME
  • Dallas Roberts (The Good Wife, The Walking Dead) has landed a recurring role on the drama's upcoming third season. He will play Carson Hesby, the husband of Jeanette Hesby (Felicity Huffman).
TNT's THE LAST SHIP
  • Jonathan Howard (Guilt, Dominion) has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming fourth season. He will play James Fletcher, a British Royal Navy commander and MI-6 agent. A Cross between James Bond and a Navy SEAL, he has been tasked to work with the crew of the Nathan James to recover stolen items that are crucial to the survival of the planet. He will work closely with Sasha (Bridget Regan).
EPIX's GET SHORTY
  • Sarah Stiles (Hand to God) has joined the upcoming drama starring Ray Romano and Chris O'Dowd. She will play Gladys, Rick's (Romano) secretary. She's edgier than your typical secretary, blunt, to the point and armed with a dry sense of humor who dresses like she's stumbled out of a Jersey nightclub, but she's good at her job.
CBS ALL ACCESS' THE GOOD FIGHT
  • Gary Cole is set to reprise his The Good Wife role on the upcoming spinoff starring Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo. He plays Kurt McVeigh, Diane's (Baranski) husband. It's currently unclear what their marital status is when the new series picks up following the events of the series finale of The Good Wife.
