Freeform Cancels 'Dead of Summer' After One Season

Also in the midst of election coverage, Freeform has decided to cancel its original drama series Dead of Summer after one season. The first season wrapped its run on August 30, 2016.






The drama starred Elizabeth Mitchell, Elizabeth Lail, Amber Coney, Alberto Frezza, Eli Goree, Mark Indelicato, Ronen Rubinstein, Paulina Singer and Zelda Williams.

Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz and Ian Goldberg created the drama. They served as executive producers with Steve Pearlman. ABC Signature and Kitsis/Horowitz produced.

The drama had a low-rated premiere on June 28, 2016. Its premiere was seen by 628,000 total viewers and a 0.23 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic. The numbers were steady throughout the first season. The finale on August 30 was seen by 410,000 viewers and a 0.18 rating.
