OWN Sets March Return Date for Season 2 of 'Greenleaf'

OWN announced today the second season premiere date for its original drama series Greenleaf starring Keith David and Lynn Whitfield. Season 2 includes 16 episodes - with the first eight debuting this spring and the next 8 airing in Summer 2017.





Season 2 of Greenleaf will premiere on Wednesday, March 15 at 10/9c. The series premiered last June as the #1 series debut in OWN history and averaged over three million viewers in its first season in Live+3 figures.

In the second season, the Greenleaf family tree will split at the root as Jacob ventures off to begin his new career with long-time rival church Triumph Ministries, breaking faith with his father, Bishop James Greenleaf, while his mother, Lady Mae, struggles with Jacob's decision to abandon the family. Meanwhile, after exposing her Uncle Mac's crimes but failing to bring him to justice, Gigi finds herself intrigued with someone new, Darius Nash, a local journalist who's been closely following the ongoing threats plaguing the Greenleaf empire.

The drama stars Keith David, Lynn Whitfield, Merle Dandridge, Lamman Rucker, Deborah Joy Winans, Kim Hawthorne, Tye White, GregAlan Williams, Desiree Ross and Lovie Simone. Oprah Winfrey will continue in her recurring role as Mavis McCready.
