National Geographic Announces Premiere Date for Scripted Anthology 'Genius'

National Geographic today released the network's first-ever commercial for the Super Bowl - a TV spot for upcoming scripted anthology series Genius. The promo ends with the reveal of an April premiere date for the series.






The series will premiere on National Geographic (and around the world in 171 countries and 45 languages) on Tuesday, April 25.

The first season of Genius charts how Albert Einstein, an imaginative, rebellious patent clerk who struggled to land an academic post in his early years, went on to become the greatest scientific mind of the 20th century, all while juggling volatile, passionate and complex personal relationships.

The drama stars Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, Johnny Flynn, Vincent Kartheiser, Seth Gabel, Michael McElhatton, Samantha Colley, Richard Topol, Shannon Tarbet, Claire Rushbrook, Robert Lindsay and T.R. Knight.

Based on the book Einstein: His Life and Universe by Walter Isaacson, Noah Pink developed the series and will serve as co-executive producer. Ken Biller is the showrunner for the first season. He executive produces with Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo, Gigi Pritzker, Rachel Shane, Sam Sokolow and Jeff Cooney. Anna Culp and Melissa Rucker are co-producers. Fox 21 Television Studios, Imagine Television, OddLot Entertainment and EUE/Sokolow produce.
