Development News - Jay Karnes Joins 'The Crossing'; Marley Shelton Books Role on 'Drama High'; Plus 9 More Updates!

ABC's The Crossing, Doomsday, The Good Doctor & Salamander; CBS' Brothered Up, Instinct, Mission Control & S.W.A.T.; The CW's Insatiable & Life Sentence; and NBC's Drama High.




ABC's THE CROSSING
  • Jay Karnes (The Shield), Simone Kessell (Terra Nova) and Grant Harvey (The Neighbors) have been cast on the drama pilot starring Sandrine Holt and Steve Zahn. Karnes will play Craig Lindauer, a sharp and aggressive DHS Under Secretary skeptical of the refugees' claims. Kessell will play Rebecca, one of the few survivors to wash up on shore amongst the hundreds of bodies that appear one morning. Harvey will play Roy, a boyish, by-the-book agent charged with helping look after the refugees.
NBC's DRAMA HIGH
  • Marley Shelton (The Lottery) and Casey Johnson (GLOW) will co-star on the drama pilot starring Josh Radnor. Shelton will play Gail, Lou's (Radnor) wife, a mother of three and classically trained musician who now is giving piano lessons to neighborhood kids. She is supportive of Lou's new career but also worries about her family and the impact that this endeavor will have on it. She is trying to find the balance on what is best for her family's life right now and is feeling the pressure to hold everyone together. Johnson will play Gordy, Lou's son.
THE CW's LIFE SENTENCE
  • Carlos PenaVega (Grease: Live!) has landed a series regular role on the hourlong comedy pilot starring Lucy Hale. He will play Darius, Stella's (Hale) brother-in-law. He's the extremely positive, family loving, Pharma rep Stella's sister, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons), met during one of her hospital stays.
THE CW's INSATIABLE
  • Kimmy Shields (Big Little Lies) has booked a series regular role on the drama pilot starring Debby Ryan and Dallas Roberts. She will play Nonnie, Patty's (Ryan) best friend.
CBS' MISSION CONTROL
  • Grimm star David Giuntoli and Unforgettable star Poppy Montgomery will play the lead roles on the drama pilot written by Andy Weir. Giuntoli will play Stevenson, an astronaut and the Durga Mission's Commander. Montgomery will play Julie, the flight director for the Durga Mission.
ABC's SALAMANDER
  • Hand of God star Elaine Tan has been cast on the drama pilot starring Larenz Tate and Allison Miller. She will play Meghan, the master thief and anarchist who works alongside the domestic terrorist Jack Wang (Neil Sandilands).
CBS' BROTHERED UP
  • Emmy winner Glynn Turman (House of Lies, In Treatment) is set as a series regular on the comedy pilot starring Romany Malco and Adhir Kalyan. He will play Frank, a retired cop who's landed at his son Calvin's (Malco) house where he's crashing until he meets a potential fourth wife.
ABC's DOOMSDAY
  • Mistresses alum Rochelle Aytes has joined the drama pilot starring Taye Diggs. She will play Dr. Elle, a renowned physicist, MD and author, also a member of the former Doomsday Project think tank. Notable for her ability to popularize science, "making complex ideas digestible for the masses," she starts out with the Laissez-faire opinion that any problem people create can be fixed at a later point.
ABC's THE GOOD DOCTOR
  • The West Wing alum Richard Schiff will co-star on the drama pilot starring Freddie Highmore. He will play Dr. Ira Glassman, President of the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. He's a good man who wasn't always a good man. He is advocating for the hire of Murphy (Highmore). He has mentored the young doctor since he was 16 and admits that he's like a son to him.
CBS' INSTINCT
  • Khandi Alexander (Scandal, CSI: Miami) has landed a series regular role on the drama pilot starring Alan Cumming and Bojana Novakovic. She will play Lizzi's (Novakovic) police superior.
CBS' S.W.A.T.
  • Jay Harrington (Better Off Ted, Benched) has booked a series regular role on the drama pilot starring Shemar Moore. He will play David "Deacon" Kay, a level-headed, competent and experienced SWAT officer who's ready for a commanding role. What seems like an obvious promotion is taken away from him when Hondo (Moore) is upped for seemingly political reasons. But when he's offered his own squad, he's torn between a potential upgrade and his loyalty to his team.
