ABC's 'Scandal' to End After 7 Seasons

ABC is expected to announce at next week's upfront presentation that its hit original drama series Scandal will end after its already announced seventh season. ABC, ABC Studios and Shondaland declined to comment at this time.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes has always been vocal about Scandal being a drama with a fixed ending that couldn't survive being on the air for more than a decade like her other ABC drama Grey's Anatomy.

In its sixth season, the drama is averaging a 3.7 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 11.1 million total viewers according to Live+7 numbers.

The episode count for the seventh season has not yet been determined nor if new episodes will air in the fall or wait until midseason (like the drama's first and sixth seasons).

The drama stars Kerry Washington, Scott Foley, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Guillermo Diaz, Jeff Perry, Joshua Malina, Bellamy Young, Joe Morton, Cornelius Smith Jr. and Tony Goldwyn.
