CBS Cancels 'The Great Indoors'; Renews 'Elementary'

CBS has decided to cancel its original comedy series The Great Indoors after one season, it was announced today.

Also this evening CBS has announced that Elementary has been renewed for a sixth season.

The Great Indoors starred Joel McHale, Susannah Fielding, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Williams, Christine Ko, Shaun Brown, Deborah Baker Jr. and Stephen Fry.

Mike Gibbons created the comedy. He executive produced with Chris Harris, Andy Ackerman, Judd Pillot and John Peaslee. CBS Television Studios, Gibbons Bros. and Shiny Brass Lamp Productions produced.

In its first season, the comedy averaged a 1.9 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 8.6 million total viewers, in Live+7 numbers.

Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Jon Michael Hill and Aidan Quinn.

Robert Doherty developed the drama. He executive produces with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, John Coles, John Polson and Jason Tracey. CBS Television Studios and Timberman/Beverly Productions produce.

In its fifth season, the drama is averaging a 1.2 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 7.7 million total viewers, in Live+7 numbers. The ratings for the drama aren't that great. And yet, CBS can justify the renewal because it owns the show, it has strong SVOD and syndication deals and does well for international audiences.
