NBC Gives Series Orders to Dramas 'Rise' and 'For God and Country'

This evening NBC was the first broadcast network to hand out series orders to its new crop of pilots. The dramas getting orders tonight include Rise and For God and Country.






RISE: Based on the book Drama High by Michael Sokolove and life rights of Lou Volpe. When dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli sheds his own self-doubt and takes over the school’s lackluster theater department, he galvanizes not only the faculty and students but the entire working-class town.

The cast includes Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli'i Cravalho, Amy Forsyth, Rarmian Newton, Shannon Purser, Damon Gillespie, Shirley Rumierk, Joe Tippet, Ted Sutherland, Taylor Richardson, Casey Johnson and Marley Shelton.

Jason Katims wrote the pilot, which was directed by Mike Cahill. They executive produce with Flody Suarez, Jeffrey Seller and Michelle Lee. Universal Television, True Jack Productions and Seller Suarez Productions produce.

The cast includes Mike Vogel, Anne Heche, Natacha Karam, Hadi Tabbal, Demetrius Grosse, Noah Mills, Sofia Pernas and Tate Ellington.

Dean Georgaris wrote the pilot, which was directed by Brad Anderson. Georgaris executive produces with Avi Nir, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan. Universal Television and Keshet Media Group produce.
