NBC Un-Cancels 'Timeless,' Picks Drama Up for Season 2

Just days after cancelling the drama after one season, NBC has now reversed its decision and picked up Timeless for a second season. The new season will include 10 episodes and debut sometime in 2018.

The drama stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, Claudia Doumit and Goran Višnjić.

Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan created the drama. They executive produce with John Davis, John Fox, Marney Hochman and Neil Marshall. Sony Pictures Television, Universal Television, Davis Entertainment, Kripke Enterprises and MiddKid Productions produced.

In its first season, the drama averaged a 2.1 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 8 million total viewers, in Live+7 numbers. That number is slightly higher than a few other shows that NBC renewed this week. It was cancelled in the first place because it was a more expensive show that came from an outside studio.

Sony TV fought hard to keep the show on the air. After the cancellation news, the production company was said to be pitching the show to other outlets. Kripke and Ryan broke the renewal at NBC news today on Twitter claiming that it was because of the strong outpouring of love from fans that got the executives at NBC to change course.
