Netflix has today announced a premiere date for its upcoming comedy series Atypical starring Jennifer Jason Leigh.
The 8-episode first season will debut on the streaming service on Friday, August 11.
The comedy is a coming-of-age story from the point-of-view of Sam, an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum. He decides it is time to go on a date, find a girlfriend and hopefully love, a journey that sets his mother, Elsa, on her own life-changing path.
The cast includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Rapaport, Keir Gilchrist, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Amy Okuda.
Robia Rashid created the comedy. She executive produces with Seth Gordon and Mary Rohlich. Leigh is a producer. Sony Pictures Television produces.
