Emmy Predictions 2017: Which Programs Will Likely Get Nominated for Limited Series?

From June 12 to June 26, voting is taking place for The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To add to the excitement of the past year in television, I'm providing analysis on which shows and performers are likely to get nominated this year. Next up is Limited Series.

2016 Nominees:
        ABC's American Crime
        FX's Fargo
        AMC's The Night Manager
FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (WINNER)
        A&E, History and Lifetime's Roots

Once again, I feel like it is easy to predict this race this year. I would honestly be shocked if the five shows I think will get nominated aren't the final list. Fargo has won this category both times it was nominated. Meanwhile, Feud and Big Little Lies are coming off of a ton of buzz with star power and proven network track records helping. The Night Of aired a long time ago but it seems strong too. I don't even think cancellation will ultimately hurt American Crime's chances of getting nominated. Yes, there are some spoilers in this race - like American Horror Story or Genius. But I can just make much better arguments for the other five shows to get nominated this year.

So now, here's my thoughts on the programs most likely to be nominated for Limited Series:
  1. FX's Feud: Bette and Joan
  2. HBO's Big Little Lies
  3. FX's Fargo
  4. HBO's The Night Of
  5. ABC's American Crime
And now, for some serious threats that could break into the list:
  1. FX's American Horror Story: Roanoke
  2. National Geographic's Genius
  3. HBO's The Young Pope
  4. Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
  5. Showtime's Guerrilla
  6. ABC's When We Rise
Some considerable long-shots:
  1. Starz's The White Princess
  2. FOX's Shots Fired
  3. Reelz's The Kennedys: After Camelot
  4. Starz's The Missing
  5. BET's Madiba
And now, just some colorful oddities who still have an outside chance:
  1. BET's The New Edition Story
  2. Discovery's Harley and the Davidsons
  3. Syfy's Channel Zero: Candle Cove
  4. CMT's Sun Records
  5. USA's Eyewitness
