ABC Cancels 'The Mayor' After One Season

ABC has pulled its original comedy series The Mayor from its schedule, effectively cancelling the show after airing only nine of the thirteen episodes of its first season.

The comedy was slotted to return from its holiday hiatus next Tuesday, January 9 at 9:30/8:30c. It will be replaced in the slot by repeats of Modern Family. It's currently unclear if the four unaired episodes will ever be released.

The cast includes Brandon Michael Hall, Lea Michele, Bernard David Jones, Marcel Spears and Yvette Nicole Brown.

Jeremy Bronson created the comedy. He executive produced with Daveed Diggs, Dylan Clark, James Griffiths, Scott Stuber and Jamie Tarses. ABC Studios, Jeremy Bronson Productions, Fee-Fi-Fo Films and Fanfare Productions produced.

The series was the only comedy that ABC launched in the fall. Despite promising reviews, the comedy continually struggled in the ratings. The network has two comedies slotted for midseason that have yet to receive premiere dates - Alex Inc. and Splitting Up Together.
