Casting News - Mehdi Dehbi, John Ortiz and Tomer Sisley to Star in Netflix's 'Messiah'; Plus 1 More Update!

Freeform's Famous in Love and Netflix's Messiah.

  • Sofia Carson will appear in a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. She is known for her starring role in Disney's Descendants movies and just booked a co-starring role on Freeform's The Perfectionists pilot.
  • She will play Sloane, the daughter of a powerful movie mogul.
  • Mehdi Dehbi, John Ortiz and Tomer Sisley will play the lead roles on the upcoming drama created by Michael Petroni.
  • Dehbi (Tyrant, London Has Fallen) will play Al-Massih, an enigma with mysterious origins. People are unsure if he is a divine messenger or a political rabble-rouser. When he disappears from an Israeli interrogation cell with no explanation, his legend begins to grow.
  • Ortiz (Togetherness, Bumblebee) will play Felix, a smart, humble and unassuming man on the outside. Though blessed with a strong faith and a loving family, Felix struggles with his lot in life leading a tiny, uninspired congregation in a border town in Texas where he assumes he will live out the rest of his days. His life is about to change as he gets swept up into Al-Massih's world. With growing power comes corruption and Felix must choose between remaining true to himself or going down a darker path.
  • Sisley (We're the Millers, Les Innocents) will play Avrim Dahan, an embittered Shin Bet operative who is a violent and aggressive non-believer who is fighting for the protection of his country and nothing else. He has done some shameful things in the fight against terrorism.
