Superman Prequel Series 'Metropolis' Picked Up to Series at DC Digital Service

DC's upcoming digital service has just given a series order to original drama series Metropolis. The first season of the live-action drama will include 13 episodes and debut in 2019.

Set in the so-called City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, Metropolis follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city's dark and bizarre secrets.

Two key Gotham producers are behind the new drama with the series being written by John Stephens and directed by Danny Cannon. It's based on DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Warner Bros. Television produces.

The new drama is the fourth series announced for the upcoming DC digital service - which is slated to launch later this year. Metropolis joins live-action drama Titans and two animated series Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders.
