Casting News - February 27, 2018

ABC's The Rookie; CBS' Bull; Epix's Get Shorty; HBO's Ballers & Big Little Lies; Hulu's Casual; NBC's Chicago Fire; and TNT's Animal Kingdom.

TNT's ANIMAL KINGDOM
  • Denis Leary has been cast in a major recurring role on the drama's upcoming third season. He is the creator and star of FX's Rescue Me and Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. His film credits include The Amazing Spider-Man and Ice Age.
  • He will play Billy, Deran's (Jake Weary) drifter dad whom Shurf (Ellen Barkin) kicked out years ago.
CBS' BULL
  • Emmy winner Dana Delany will appear in an upcoming episode of the drama's second season. She won two Emmy Awards for her role in ABC's China Beach. Her additional series regular credits include Desperate Housewives, Body of Proof and Hand of God.
  • She will play AUSA Banner, a federal prosecutor who is bound and determined to imprison a young mother/physician who illegally purchases thousands of vials of marijuana-derived CBD oil to treat her patients in Virginia, where the oil is illegal. Her tenacity and seeming heartlessness baffles Bull (Michael Weatherly).
HBO's BALLERS
  • Joy Bryant has joined the comedy's upcoming fourth season in a recurring role. She starred for six seasons in NBC's Parenthood and was a series regular on Amazon's Good Girls Revolt.
  • She will play a successful public defender who is a single mother to a hotshot rising football star in high school.
ABC's THE ROOKIE
  • Mercedes Mason has booked a series regular role on the upcoming drama starring Nathan Fillion. She is coming off a three season starring role on AMC's Fear the Walking Dead.
  • She will play Captain Zoe Anderson, John Nolan's (Fillion) confident and irreverent commanding officer.
EPIX's GET SHORTY
  • Steven Weber and Andrew Leeds have landed recurring roles on the drama's upcoming second season. Weber starred in eight seasons of NBC's Wings and has recently recurred on CBS' Mom, The CW's iZombie and CBS' NCIS: New Orleans. Leeds starred in ABC's Cristela and has recurred on FOX's Bones.
  • Weber will play Lawrence Budd, an impossibly powerful film producer in Hollywood who commutes via helicopter and landscapes his yard with fully grown trees. A medical condition has left him hairless, so he glues on a wig and eyebrows. He collaborates in a film with Miles (Chris O'Dowd) and Rick (Ray Romano).
  • Leeds will play FBI Special Agent Ken Stevenson, Agent Dillard's (Felicity Huffman) partner. Together, they manage Rick as their informant and seek to bring down a drug cartel. He is an expert at being supportive and upbeat while forcing people to do unsavory things.
HULU's CASUAL
  • Lorenza Izzo is set for a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming fourth and final season. She starred in AMC's short-lived drama Feed the Beast and appeared in an episode of Hulu anthology Dimension 404.
  • She will play Tathiana, a friend who Laura (Tara Lynne Barr) met while traveling.
HBO's BIG LITTLE LIES
  • Adam Scott is the latest actor to close a new deal to return to the hit drama for its upcoming second season. He joins returning cast Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz, as well as new addition Meryl Streep.
  • He plays Ed, Madeline's (Witherspoon) wife. In the new season, Ed is forced to confront major challenges in his marriage.
NBC's CHICAGO FIRE
  • Sarah Shahi will reprise her role as Renée Royce for at least three episodes at the end of the drama's sixth season. Shahi recurred on the drama during its first two seasons, before segueing to her series regular role on CBS' Person of Interest. She next appears as the lead character in NBC's upcoming drama Reverie, which doesn't have a premiere date yet.
  • In the new episodes, Renée shows up at Firehouse 51 because she needs some fire expertise for a law case she's working on and thinks of Severide (Taylor Kinney) - and wants to make it up to him for the way she left in Season 2. Of course, this comes at a very inopportune time for Severide.
