YouTube Red Confirms Premiere Date for 'The Karate Kid' Spinoff 'Cobra Kai'

YouTube Red has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming The Karate Kid spinoff series Cobra Kai.







The 10-episode series will debut on the streaming service on Wednesday, May 2 - following a launch on April 24 at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Set 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a down and out Johnny Lawrence, seeking redemption, reopens the infamous Cobra Kai dojo. It reignites his rivalry with a now-successful Daniel LaRusso, who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi. The season follows the duo addressing demons from their past and present frustrations - through karate.

The cast includes Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Courtney Henggeler, Mary Mouser, Xolo Maridueña and Tanner Buchanan.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg created the series. They executive produce with Machhio, Zabka, James Lassiter and Caleb Pinkett. Sony Pictures Television and Overbrook Entertainment produce.
