Casting News - Hugh Laurie Returns to Hulu for 'Catch-22'; Eric Bana to Star in 'Dirty John'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Bravo's Dirty John; The CW's Legends of Tomorrow; HBO's Big Little Lies; and Hulu's Catch-22.

  • Hugh Laurie has joined the cast of the upcoming limited series starring George Clooney. He starred for eight seasons in FOX's House, two seasons in Hulu's Chance, and the AMC miniseries The Night Manager. He has also recurred in three seasons of HBO's Veep.
  • He will play Major de Coverley, the squadron executive officer on Pianosa air base. A noble, leonine presence, like some Civil War general, de Coverley dances to the beat of his own drum. Regarded with awe by the men, he spends his time pitching horseshoes, listening to jazz on his phonograph, mixing himself martinis and hiring apartments for the officers in every new city the Americans take.
  • Eric Bana will star opposite Connie Britton in the upcoming anthology series created by Alexandra Cunningham. His casting marks his first series regular role on American television. His film credits include Chopper, Black Hawk Down, Star Trek and Hulk.
  • He will play John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps Debra Newell (Britton) off her feet and pulls her into his web of lies.
  • Kathryn Newton, Robin Weigert, Merrin Dungey and Sarah Sokolovic have closed new deals to return to the hit drama for its upcoming second season. Furthermore, Crystal Fox and Mo McRae have joined the cast of the new season.
  • Newton plays Abigail Carlson, Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Nathan's (James Tupper) daughter.
  • Weigert plays Dr. Amanda Reisman, Celeste (Nicole Kidman) and Perry's (Alexander Skarsgård) therapist.
  • Dungey plays Detective Adrienne Quinlan.
  • Sokolovic plays Tori Bachman, the wife to Joseph Bachman (Santiago Cabrera), who Madeline was having an affair with.
  • Fox (The Haves and the Have Nots) will play Elizabeth Howard, Bonnie's (Zoë Kravitz) mother. She's passed on her outward zen to her daughter but ultimately reveals herself to be controlling and emotionally abusive.
  • McRae (Pitch, Empire) will play Michael Perkins, a new second-grade teacher at Otter Bay Elementary School who tries to cultivate global and social consciousness to his students but Renata (Laura Dern) becomes furious when his lesson on global warming causes her daughter to have a panic attack.
  • Jes Macallan has been promoted to series regular for the drama's upcoming fourth season. She joined the cast of the drama as recurring at the start of the third season.
  • She plays Ava Sharpe, an agent with the Time Bureau and Sara's (Caity Lotz) love interest. She recently learned that she was also a clone from the future, selected to serve for the Time Bureau by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill).
