CBS Gives Series Orders to 'The Code,' 'Fam,' 'God Friended Me,' 'Magnum P.I' and 'The Red Line'

CBS has handed out five new series orders today. The four dramas include The Code, God Friended Me, Magnum P.I. and The Red Line. The multi-camera comedy is Fam.






The Code - The military's brightest minds take on our country's toughest challenges - inside the courtroom and out - where each attorney is trained as a prosecutor, a defense lawyer, an investigator and a Marine.

The drama stars Anna Wood, Phillipa Soo, Ato Essandoh and Raffi Barsoumian. Dave Annable and Mira Sorvino played lead roles in the pilot, but they will not be continuing with the series. Their roles are being recast.

Craig Sweeny and Craig Turk wrote the pilot, which was directed by Marc Webb. They executie produce with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. CBS Television Studios and Timberman/Beverly Productions produce.

Fam - A woman's dreams of an upstanding life with her new fiancĂ© and his family are dashed when her younger half-sister comes to live with her to escape their train wreck of a father.

The comedy stars Nina Dobrev, Tone Bell, Odessa Adlon, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Corinne Kingsbury wrote the pilot, which was directed by Scott Ellis. They executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Wendi Trilling. CBS Television Studios, Kapital Entertainment and Trill TV produce.

God Friended Me - An outspoken atheist's life is turned upside down when he is "friended" by God on Facebook. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.

The drama stars Brandon Michael Hall, Violett Beane, Javicia Leslie, Suraj Sharma and Joe Morton.

Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt wrote the pilot, which was directed by Marcos Siega. They executive produce with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions produce.

Magnum P.I. - Upon returning home from Afghanistan, decorated ex-Navy SEAL Thomas Magnum repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. With help from fellow vets Theodore "TC" Calvin and Orville "Rick" Wright, as well as that of disavowed former MI:6 agent Juliet Higgins, Magnum takes on the cases no one else will, helping those who have no one else to turn to. Action, adventure and comedy aside, the drama also explores a brotherhood forged by the trauma of combat, what it means to return home an ex-soldier and a commitment to continuing to serve while in the private sector. Reboot of the 1980-88 drama.

The drama stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton and Stephen Hill.

Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim wrote the pilot, which was directed by Justin Lin. They executive produce with John Davis, John Fox and Danielle Woodrow. CBS Television Studios, Universal Television, Davis Entertainment and Perfect Storm Entertainment produce.

The Red Line - After a white cop in Chicago mistakenly shoots and kills a black doctor, the narrative follows three different families that all have connections with the case as the story is told from each perspective.

The drama stars Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton, Aliyah Royale, Vinny Chhibber, Howard Charles and Elizabeth Laidlaw.

Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss wrote the pilot, which was directed by Victoria Mahoney. They executive produce with Ava DuVernay, Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions produce.
