Hulu Renews 'The Handmaid's Tale' for Season 3

Just three episodes into its second season, Hulu has renewed its original drama series The Handmaid's Tale for a third season. The renewal was announced at the streaming service's upfront presentation to ad buyers this morning. The drama will return in 2019.

The drama stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Samira Wiley and Amanda Brugel.

Bruce Miller developed the drama based on the novel by Margaret Atwood. He executive produces with Moss, Warren Littlefield, Reed Morano, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears and Ilene Chaiken. Atwood is a co-executive producer. MGM Television, The Littlefield Company and White Oak Pictures produce.

Much like Netflix and Amazon, Hulu does not released viewership data for its original programming. However, today the executives noted that last week's season two premiere doubled the audience for the show compared to the first season.
