TBS Cancels 'People of Earth' - Despite Previous Season 3 Renewal

Despite being renewed for a third season last fall, TBS has today made the decision to cancel its original comedy series People of Earth after two seasons. The news was announced by series creator David Jenkins on Twitter.

Jenkins wrote: "Just got word last night: TBS has canceled People of Earth. Thank you to everyone who was a fan of the show and enjoyed its gentle, amiable sci-fi weirdness. It was an honor sharing this show with you. Let's do it again soon. Love you all."

The comedy starred Wyatt Cenac, Ana Gasteyer, Luka Jones, Brian Huskey, Alice Wetterlund, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Tracee Chimo, Nancy Lenehan, Ken Hall, Björn Gustafsson, Michael Cassidy, Oscar Nuñez and Nasim Pedrad.

Jenkins served as executive producer with Conan O'Brien, Greg Daniels and Norm Hiscock. Warner Horizon Television, Conaco and Deedle-Dee Productions produced.

The second season of the comedy concluded on September 25, 2018. A few weeks before the finale the show was renewed for a third season alongside The Guest Book and Wrecked. Moreover, the third season has already been written in its entirety. But for various behind-the-scenes reasons, it will not be produced.
