Casting News - Sela Ward to Co-Star on 'FBI'; 'The Chi' Promotes Trio to Series Regulars; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - July 23, 2018

Bravo's Dirty John; CBS' FBI; NBC's Chicago Med; and Showtime's The Chi.

CBS' FBI
  • Sela Ward has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama starring Zeeko Zaki and Missy Peregrym. She won Emmy Awards for her performances in NBC's Sisters and ABC's Once and Again. She recently starred for three seasons in CBS' CSI: NY and two seasons in Epix's Graves.
  • She will play Dana Mosier. She is essentially replacing Connie Nielsen, who co-starred in the pilot, but won't appear until the second episode. She is expected to be in a similar position as the team's boss.
SHOWTIME's THE CHI
  • Shamon Brown Jr., Barton Fitzpatrick and Michael Epps have been promoted to series regulars for the drama's upcoming second season. They all recurred throughout the first season.
  • In the first season, best friends Kevin (Alex Hibbert), Papa (Brown Jr.) and Jake (Epps) navigated the rocky terrain of teen life on the South Side in their journey to become young men. In addition to normal adolescent pitfalls, they were also exposed to some of the darker elements of inner-city life, at times by Jake's older brother and guardian, Reg (Fitzpatrick). Kevin and Papa battled Reg's influence over Jake, praying that their friend would maintain his innocence and avoid temptations. But whether the boys are able to shield Jake from Reg's twisted lessons in street survival remains to be seen.
NBC's CHICAGO MED
  • Molly Bernard and Colby Lewis have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming fourth season. Bernard has been a series regular on TV Land's Younger since its second season while Lewis is a relative newcomer.
  • Bernard will play Elsa Curry, an intelligent, know-it-all, intense and overconfident med student. She's the shiniest penny in every room, and is not shy about letting you know it. Her impatience and arrogance may be grating at first, but she has a bright future of medicine ahead of her.
  • Lewis will play Terry McNeal, a star football player who gave up a lucrative NFL contract to go to medical school. Like Elsa, he is a third-year med student starting his clinical rotations.
BRAVO's DIRTY JOHN
  • Kevin Zegers has landed a recurring role on the upcoming anthology series starring Connie Britton and Eric Bana. He starred in the one-season dramas Gracepoint on FOX and Notorious on ABC. He recently recurred on AMC's Fear the Walking Dead.
  • He will play Toby, Debra's (Britton) nephew.
