Netflix has today renewed its original drama series Altered Carbon for a second season. An episode count and premiere date window were not immediately announced for the new episodes.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed today that Captain America star Anthony Mackie will take over the lead role of Takeshi Kovacs in the second season, replacing star Joel Kinnaman who played the role in the first season. Additionally, Alison Schapker has joined the drama as co-showrunner alongside series creator Laeta Kalogridis.
In addition to Kinnaman, the first season also starred James Purefoy, Martha Higareda, Chris Conner, Dichen Lachman, Ato Essandoh, Kristin Lehman, Trieu Tran and Renée Elise Goldsberry.
Kalogridis and Schapker executive produce with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross and James Middleton. Skydance Television produces.
