Starz Renews 'Sweetbitter' for Season 2

Starz has today renewed its original half-hour drama series Sweetbitter for a second season. The show will return with 10 new episodes in 2019.

The drama stars Ella Purnell, Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald, Evan Jonigkeit, Eden Epstein, Jasmine Mathews, Daniyar and Paul Sparks.

Stephanie Danler developed the series based on her novel of the same name. She executive produces with showrunner Stuart Zicherman, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Sarah Esberg and director Richard Shepard. Plan B Entertainment produces.

"Season one gave audiences a taste of the characters and backstory of an upscale New York restaurant, leaving them wanting more - which we will deliver with a second helping of Sweetbitter," said Chris Albrecht, CEO, Starz. "The immersion of the audience into the world in and around the restaurant will deepen as the series looks further into the complexities of Tess' awakening and the lives of her new friends and colleagues in the second season."
