Casting News - August 7, 2018

Amazon's The Man in the High Castle; The CW's Arrowverse; and TNT's Snowpiercer.

THE CW's ARROWVERSE
  • Ruby Rose has been tapped to play Batwoman in the upcoming December DC crossover event on The CW. Her casting comes after the network made it a priority to cast an openly gay actress in the role - with executive producer Greg Berlanti also plotting a standalone series around the character. She previously had a recurring role on Netflix's Orange Is the New Black.
  • She will play Kate Kane, who armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence. But don't call her a hero yet - in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope.
AMAZON's THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE
  • Frances Turner has been cast as a new series regular on the drama's upcoming fourth season. Moreover, Clé Bennett and Rich Ting have landed recurring roles. Turner currently recurs on FOX's The Gifted. Bennett had a recurring role on Showtime's Homeland. Ting stars in Cinemax's upcoming drama Warrior.
  • Turner will play Bell Mallory, who has escaped from a Nazi concentration camp into the Japanese Pacific States, where she meets Elijah.
  • Bennett will play Elijah, a militant Black nationalist. With Bell, they become members of a cell in the BCR, an urban guerrilla movement dedicated to the liberation of African-Americans.
  • Ting will play Captain Iijima, a driven and ambitious young detective in the Kempeitai and Kido's (Joel de la Fuente) close deputy.
TNT's SNOWPIERCER
  • Iddo Goldberg has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs as a new series regular. He starred for three seasons in WGN America's Salem and had a recurring role in Amazon's The Last Tycoon.
  • He will play Bennett, an engineer through and through. He sees the big picture but knows the devil is in the details. As one of the original engineers who helped design the train, he is also one of the few who knows the deepest secrets of the train.
