History Renews 'Knightfall' for Season 2; Mark Hamill Joins Cast

Several months after finishing its first season, History has renewed its original drama series Knightfall for a second season. Furthermore, it was announced today that Star Wars' Mark Hamill has joined the cast in a recurring role, while Aaron Helbing (The Flash) will serve as showrunner for the new episodes.

The drama stars Tom Cullen, Jim Carter, Pádraic Delaney, Simon Merrells, Julian Ovenden, Olivia Ross, Ed Stoppard, Sabrina Bartlett, Bobby Schofield and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina.

Hamill will play Talus, a battle-hardened Knights Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order.

Also joining the cast today are Tom Forbes (Wolf Hall) as Prince Louis, the violent and unpredictable son of King Philip (Stoppard) and heir to the heir; and Genevieve Gaunt (The Royals) as Isabella, the daughter of King Philip and well on her way to becoming the woman who history would call "the she-wolf of France."

Don Handfield and Richard Rayner created the drama. They executive produce with Helbing, Jeremy Renner, Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, Barry Jossen, Cyrus Voris, Ethan Reiff and Rick Jacobson. A+E Studios, Midnight Radio and The Combine produce.

"In the face of ever-increasing competition, we're proud of History's track record of producing signature drama series that are epic in scope with complex characters," said Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President of Programming, History. "Whether it's the legendary Knights Templar, the extraordinary tale of medieval Norseman, or the story of a formerly classified Unites States Air Force program investigating UFOs during the Cold War, these series reflect our commitment to bringing the defining, big canvas stories of history to life. We look forward to offering our viewers a grittier, darker Knightfall in season two and welcoming Mark to the cast."
