After previously ordering the project to pilot in April 2018, USA has opted to go straight-to-series on the original drama Treadstone, which is set in the Jason Bourne franchise universe. Production will begin in early 2019.
The drama explores the origin story and present-day actions of a CIA black ops program known as Operation Treadstone - a covert program that uses behavior modification protocol to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. The first season follows sleeper agents across the globe as they're mysteriously "awakened" to resume their deadly missions.
Tim Kring (Heroes) created the drama, with Ramin Bahrani set to direct the premiere. They executive produce with Ben Smith, Jeffrey Weiner, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Justin Levy. Universal Cable Productions, Captivate Entertainment and Imperative Entertainment produce.
