Netflix Gives Series Orders to Dramas 'The I-Land,' 'October Faction' and 'Warrior Nun'

Netflix is expanding its science fiction profile with three new series orders today for the original drama series The I-Land, October Faction and Warrior Nun. The streaming service has ordered 10 episodes of October Faction and Warrior Nun but seven episodes of The I-Land.





In The I-Land, when ten people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the island's extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves - or die as their worst ones.

The drama stars Kate Bosworth (The Art of More), Natalie Martinez (The Crossing) and Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike).

Neil LaBute (Van Helsing) created the drama and will serve as showrunner for the first season. He will executive produce with Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev. Lucy Teitler and director Jonathan Scarfe will co-executive producer. Bosworth is a producer. Nomadic Pictures Entertainment will produce.

Based on the IDW comic book series, October Faction follows globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred's father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn't as idyllic as it seems.

Damian Kindler (Krypton) created the drama and will serve as showrunner. He will executive produce with James Thorpe, Steve Niles, Thomas Walden, Eric Birnberg and Steve Niles. George Strayton and Melissa Blake will co-executive produce. John Calvert and Mohammad El Masri are producers. High Park Entertainment and IDW Entertainment will produce.

Directors for the first season include Director X, Damian Kindler, Megan Follows, Mina Shum and David Frazee.

Inspired by the Manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old woman who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.

Simon Barry (Continuum) created the drama and will showrun the first season. He will executive produce with Stephen Hegyes. Terri Hughes Burton is a co-executive producer while Amy Berg is a consulting producer. IDW Entertainment will produce.
