Casting News - Louie Anderson to Recur on 'Search Party'; Anthony Edwards Joins 'Designated Survivor'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - October 18, 2018

AMC's The Terror; Apple's See; Netflix's Designated Survivor; and TBS' Search Party.

APPLE's SEE
  • Christian Camargo and Hera Hilmar have joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard. Camargo starred in the third season of Showtime's Penny Dreadful. Hilmar recurred for all three seasons of Starz's Da Vinci's Demons.
  • Camargo will play Tamacti Jun, the head of Queen Kane's (Sylvia Hoeks) army.
  • Hilmar will play Maghra, a determined mother.
TBS' SEARCH PARTY
  • Louie Anderson has been cast in a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming third season. He currently stars in FX's Baskets, which returns for its fourth season in 2019. He has won three Emmy Awards - one for his supporting performance in Baskets and two for his voice work in '90s animated comedy Life with Louie.
  • He will play Bob, a sweet but extremely absentminded old-school lawyer from Chicago. He's warm, sentimental and optimistic but can't seem to remember his clients' names and is maybe dying.
NETFLIX's DESIGNATED SURVIVOR
  • Anthony Edwards and Julie White have landed major recurring roles on the drama's upcoming third season - its first on the streaming platform. Edwards previously starred for eight seasons in NBC's ER. White starred for four seasons in ABC's Grace Under Fire and two seasons in Amazon's Alpha House.
  • Edwards will play Mars harper, the chief of staff. He is likable and folksy in his manner, and uses that gentility to impose his will. Savvy, experienced and professional, he has served many administrations in many capacities. He is respected by all, regardless of party or ideological orientation. He's come to impart discipline and organization to a West Wing that, from his perch, has lacked focus. He will clash with other staff when he sees that President Kirkman's (Kiefer Sutherland) needs are not made number one.
  • White will play Lorraine Zimmer, the new campaign manager. She is a force of nature. She takes no prisoners with her strongly held views, backed by years of professional experience running successful campaigns. Previously, she ran a PR firm and is noted for disrupting established businesses. She is embroiled in a nasty divorce, for which she's expected to pay the alimony. At first, she is wary of working with the President, who has never run in an election. But she's keenly savvy and notes that he's blazing a new trail as the nation's first incumbent president running as an independent. She loves the challenge of shaping the campaign, noting that she'll go down in history if she helps him pull a win. That zest to win may drive her to engage in dirty tricks and ultimately more nefarious backroom deals.
AMC's THE TERROR
  • Derek Mio will play the lead role on the anthology series' upcoming second season. He had a major recurring role on ABC Family's Greek and appears in Netflix's upcoming docuseries Medal of Honor.
  • He will play Chester Nakayama, the sone of Japanese born immigrants who has dreams of leaving his insular Japanese-American community and joining the army. Throughout the season, he transforms from a naive kid to a war hero.
