Casting News - October 8, 2018

Apple's Are You Sleeping; FOX's The Gifted & Proven Innocent; NBC's The Enemy Within; and Showtime's Shameless.

FOX's THE GIFTED and NBC's THE ENEMY WITHIN
  • James Carpinello has booked recurring roles on the FOX drama's second season and the upcoming NBC drama. He has previously recurred on NBC's The Blacklist and FOX's Gotham. He has also starred in Broadway musicals Saturday Night Fever, Xanadu and Rock of Ages.
  • On The Gifted, he will play Rick, a cocky and undisciplined leader of four new recruits whose mercenary attitude has made him successful in the past.
  • On The Enemy Within, he will play Anthony Cabrera, an intelligent and trustworthy CIA official who has history with Erica Shepard (Jennifer Carpenter).
FOX's PROVEN INNOCENT
  • Tembi Locke has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Rachelle Lefevre and Kelsey Grammer. She has previously recurred on Syfy's Eureka, CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles, TNT's Animal Kingdom and CBS' S.W.A.T.
  • She will play Vanessa Dale, a professional and empathetic therapist to Easy Boudreau (Russell Hornsby).
SHOWTIME's SHAMELESS
  • Cameron Monaghan has just announced that he will be exiting the cast of the long-running dramedy during this Sunday's episode - the sixth of the ninth season. The announcement comes a month after Emmy Rossum said she will be leaving the show at the end of the current season.
  • In an Instragram post, Monaghan wrote: "I have been a series regular on this show for roughly ten years. I was the tender age of fifteen when we shot the pilot, and I came of age in so many ways both legally and personally. I was very lucky to mature and grow with this show. Experiencing so many firsts, maturing as an actor, a professional, and a human. In the process gaining friends, family, and the best coworkers a very lucky actor could ask for, and for this I can be nothing but gracious. All good things come to an end. An old cliche, but one that rings true with a sincerity and clarity especially in moments like these. Everything ends. The next episode will be my last. I have known since last year, but I didn't want to give it away too early as I wanted this season to be a surprise for the audience, allowing them to experience Ian's unsure journey with his character. This role has been a joy to inhabit, a wild and special ride, and I'd like to thank #Shameless as well as you, the viewers, for being there with him. Goodbye, Ian Clayton Gallagher. We'll meet again?"
APPLE's ARE YOU SLEEPING
  • Katherine LaNasa has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Octavia Spencer, Lizzy Caplan and Aaron Paul. She starred for two seasons in Bravo's Imposters and two seasons in USA's Satisfaction.
  • She will play Noa Havilland, Poppy's (Spencer) producing partner.
