HBO and the BBC Team on Limited Series 'Years & Years' Starring Emma Thompson

HBO and the BBC are teaming up to produce the original limited series Years & Years starring Academy Award and Emmy winner Emma Thompson (Howards End, Sense and Sensibility). The six-episode series will air in 2019.

The limited series begins in 2019 with Britain rocked by unstable political, economic and technological changes. It will follow members of the Lyons family as their lives converge on one night, and then over the next 15 years as they live their lives and viewers see what, if any, effect they had on the world.

Thompson will star as Vivienne Rook, a celebrity turned politician whose positions have proved divisive. An entertainer, rebel and trickster, her rise to power leads to an unknown future.

The cast will also include Rory Kinnear, T'Nia Miller, Russell Tovey, Jessica Hynes, Ruth Madeley and Anne Reid.

Russell T. Davies (A Very English Scandal) created the series. He will executive produce with Nicola Shindler, Michaela Fereday, Lucy Richer and director Simon Cellan Jones. Red Production Company will produce.

"HBO is thrilled once again partner with the BBC and to be joining Red Production Company in showcasing the stellar work of Russell T. Davis and Emma Thompson with this sweeping family saga which captures the spirit of our time," said Casey Bloys, President, HBO Programming.
