Casting News - November 12, 2018

The CW's Supergirl; DC Universe's Swamp Thing; and Hulu's Veronica Mars.

DC UNIVERSE's SWAMP THING
  • Kevin Durand has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Crystal Reed and Andy Bean. He has previously starred for four seasons in FX's The Strain. He has also recurred on ABC's Lost and History's Vikings.
  • He will play Jason Woodrue, a brilliant but abrasive biogeneticist. A prickly genius without equal and he knows it. Brought in to study the unique properties of a small-town Louisiana swamp, he becomes fixated on unlocking the potential contained within - leading to tragic and monstrous consequences.
HULU's VERONICA MARS
  • Clifton Collins Jr. and Izabela Vidovic have booked recurring roles on the upcoming revival starring Kristen Bell. Collins recently starred for two seasons in HBO's Westworld. Vidovic has recurred on Freeform's The Fosters and The CW's iZombie.
  • Collins will play Alonzo, a mid-level hitman for a Mexican cartel. Because of his facility with English, he's chosen by his boss to travel to Neptune to take out whomever killed his wife's nephew. The more time Alonzo spends in the U.S. the more doubts creep in about his chosen career field, particularly when he falls hard for a local girl.
  • Vidovic will play Matty Ross, who loses the most important person in the world to her in an act of violence and isn't content to just wait for justice. She goes after it herself in brazen acts - reminding Veronica (Bell) of the girl she used to be.
THE CW's SUPERGIRL
  • Hannah James and Kate Burton have landed recurring roles on the drama's fourth season. James starred for two seasons in PBS' Mercy Street. Burton has received three Emmy nominations for her performances on ABC's Grey's Anatomy and Scandal.
  • James will play Maeve Nal, Nia's (Nicole Maines) older sister who is driven and focused on maintaining the Nal family's rich legacy. She and Nia have a strong sisterly bond, although Maeve has always had to work harder to achieve what comes naturally to Nia.
  • Burton will play Isabel Nal, Nia's warm and nurturing mother who is a local hero in her own right. She is a wise and generous matriarch and has raised her family to be bold and courageous, as well as to love fiercely and openly.
