Casting News - November 13, 2018

Disney+'s The Mandalorian and OWN's Ambitions

  • Pedro Pascal is in final negotiations to star in the upcoming Star Wars live-action drama created by Jon Favreau. He has previously starred for three seasons in Netflix's Narcos and had a significant recurring role on HBO's Game of Thrones.
  • No details were immediately announced about the character he will be playing. Set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, the series follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
  • Robin Givens, Essence Atkins, Brian White, Kendrick Cross, Brely Evans and Erica Page have been cast in the lead roles on the upcoming drama created by Jamey Giddens. Furthermore, Kevin Arkadie has joined the series as showrunner while Benny Boom will direct the first episode.
  • Givens (Riverdale) will play Stephanie Carlisle, the wife of the Mayor of Atlanta, whose true loyalty is to her own family's prestigious law firm, where she is the latest in a long line of distinguished lawyers. She desperately wants to be in charge of the Carlisle family law firm and quietly fumes about her father's condescending assertion that she's simply not ready yet.
  • Atkins (Marlon) will play Amara, a lawyer in the U.S. Attorney's Office who has newly arrived in Atlanta with her husband, Titus. Originally from Texas, she is quickly gaining attention from her office as a diligent prosecutor but disappoints her supervisor by turning down the offer to run point on a major local case.
  • White (Ray Donovan) will play Evan Lancaster, the Mayor of Atlanta and Stephanie's husband. His political ambitions seem to cloud his judgment as he is willing to do anything to get to the next level in his career.
  • Cross (Acrimony) will play Titus, an attorney who recently moved with his wife Amara to Atlanta. He has been hired as in-house counsel for a big pharma company run by Hunter Purifoy, who is fighting a class action suit brought by the powerful Carlisle family.
  • Evans (Being Mary Jane) will play Rondell, Evan's sister who runs a not-quite-profitable restaurant called Thelma's Place.
  • Page (Ozark) will play Bella, a fashion designer in Atlanta who designs all of Stephanie's dresses for her.
