Casting News - Sendhil Ramamurthy Books Recurring Role on 'New Amsterdam'; 'Riverdale' Adds Kelly Ripa; Plus 1 More Update!

The CW's Riverdale; DC Universe's Swamp Thing; and NBC's New Amsterdam.





NBC's NEW AMSTERDAM
  • Sendhil Ramamurthy has been cast in a recurring role on the drama's first season. He previously starred for four seasons in NBC's Heroes, three seasons in USA's Covert Affairs and one season in NBC's Reverie.
  • He will play a new doctor at the hospital.
DC UNIVERSE's SWAMP THING
  • Andy Bean and Derek Mears will play the title role on the upcoming drama starring Crystal Reed. Bean starred for three seasons in Starz's Power and one season in HBO's Here and Now. Mears has previously recurred on FOX's Sleepy Hollow and The CW's The Flash.
  • Bean will play Alec Holland, a biologist who is caught in the crosshairs when he discovers the mystery may connect to his work in the swamp. That leads him into conflict with dark forces, from which he emerges as the elemental hero known as Swamp Thing. As the monster (Mears) struggles to hold onto his humanity, he must embrace what he has become in order to defend the town as well as the natural world at large.
THE CW's RIVERDALE
  • Kelly Ripa will appear in an upcoming episode of the drama's third season - appearing opposite her real-life husband Mark Consuelos. She co-hosts the morning talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan alongside Ryan Seacrest.
  • She will play Mrs. Mulwray, a confident, beautiful and icy femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that's much bigger than she initially realized.
