  • Anika Noni Rose has been cast in the lead role on the drama pilot written by David Schneiderman. She won a Tony Award for her performance in Caroline, or Change. She voices the lead character in the Disney film The Princess and the Frog. In TV, she starred for two seasons in BET's The Quad and has had recurring roles on CBS' The Good Wife and Starz's Power.
  • She will play Marsha Blackstone. Pulling herself and her two daughters up from poverty, abuse, homelessness and criminality, she reached the pinnacle of boxing as a fighter and has become equally as successful as a trainer known for unconventional methods and a fiercely combative style. Driven by the belief that any step backward if a slippery slope to her former life, when the boxer Marsha trained to a world title fires her, this complex and inspiring woman is determined to find a new fighter to eclipse the one she lost, but her emotional baggage and militant style could be her undoing in her professional and personal life, especially with her two grown daughters, and a new baby on the way.
  • Furthermore, Tina Mabry has signed on to direct and executive produce the pilot today. She has previously served as a writer-director on OWN's Queen Sugar and USA's Queen of the South.
