'You' Starring Penn Badgley Moves to Netflix for Season 2

After a successful first season on Lifetime, the original drama series You will be moving to Netflix for its previously-announced second season. The new episodes will debut exclusively on the streaming service in 2019.

Lifetime released the following statement on the series' move: "Lifetime had an incredible experience working with Greg Berlanti, Sera Gamble and the entire team on You for season one. We wish the cast and crew the best as the series continues on at Netflix and can't wait for the opportunity to work with the creative team again."

The move comes after Lifetime initially showed strong early faith in the drama by renewing it for a second season a month before its September 2018 series premiere. Netflix was also a strong early supporter of the series by signing on for second-window rights in the U.S. and for its international first run. The 10-episode first season debuts on the streamer on Wednesday, December 26.

The first season starred Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Zach Cherry and Shay Mitchell, with special guest star John Stamos.

Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble developed the drama based on the novel by Caroline Kepnes. They executive produce with Sarah Schechter, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.

The move also comes as Lifetime is reshifting its scripted strategy by focusing more on its roster of TV movies. The only remaining scripted series is the Jenji Kohan-produced American Princess which will debut sometime in 2019.
