Netflix Renews 'Narcos: Mexico' for Season 2

Less than a month after debuting its first season, Netflix has today renewed its original drama series Narcos: Mexico for a second season - the fifth in the overall Narcos franchise.

Set in 1980s Mexico, Narcos: Mexico tracks the birth of Mexico's drug war and the origins of the Guadalajara cartel, led by "El Padrino" - the Godfather - Miguel Félix Gallardo.

Michael Peña and Diego Luna led the extended cast during the drama's first season. It's currently unclear which stars will return for the new season - though the season finale signaled that Scoot McNairy (who narrated the season) will play a major onscreen role.

Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro created the drama. They executive produce with Eric Newman and José Padilha. Gaumont International Television produce.
