Casting News - Josh Charles Books Recurring Role on Showtime's 'The Loudest Voice'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - March 21, 2019

Hulu's Looking for Alaska; Showtime's The Loudest Voice; and USA's Queen of the South.

SHOWTIME's THE LOUDEST VOICE
  • Josh Charles has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming limited series starring Russell Crowe and Naomi Watts. He previously starred for five seasons in CBS' The Good Wife, earning an Emmy nomination for his performance. He has recently recurred on Showtime's Masters of Sex, Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and NBC's Law & Order: True Crime - The Menendez Murders.
  • He will play Casey Close, husband of former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson (Watts) and a well-known sports agent, who tries to comfort his rattled wife and reassure her that her situation at Fox isn't as bad as she thinks.
USA's QUEEN OF THE SOUTH
  • Pepe Rapazote and Alimi Ballard have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming fourth season. Rapazote starred for one season in Netflix's Narcos. Ballard starred for six seasons in CBS' Numb3rs and one season in ABC's The Catch.
  • Rapazote will play Raul "El Gordo" Rodriguez, a Cuban drug dealer out of Miami who has ties to all the kingpins on the East Coast.
  • Ballard will play Marcel Dumas, a slick and measured Creole leader of a New Orleans street gang and owner of a hip jazz club.
HULU's LOOKING FOR ALASKA
  • Denny Love, Jay Lee, Sofia Vassillieva, Landry Bender, Uriah Shelton and Jordon Connor will co-star on the upcoming limited series starring Charlie Plummer and Kristen Froseth. Furthermore, Sarah Adina Smith (Hanna) has signed on to direct the first episode.
  • Love (Empire) will play Chip Martin aka The Colonel, a short (and very smart) muscular tank of a young man. He is a scholarship student and under orders from his mother to get a good enough education. He's an enemy of the lacrosse jocks (aka "The Weekday Warriors") and regards Alaska (Froseth), Miles (Plummer) and Takumi as his friends. He's insanely loyal to his friends.
  • Lee (American Vandal) will play Takumi, a member of The Colonel's group of outcasts. He's famous for knowing all the gossip and effortlessly bounces back between the two groups of friends but is ever loyal to The Colonel and Alaska.
  • Vassilieva (Medium) will play Lara, a cute, shy and sweet girl from Romania who develops a crush on Miles.
  • Bender (Best Friends Whenever) will play Sara, The Colonel's girlfriend. She is also short and angry - but her rage is only directed at The Colonel because he manages to do something that pisses her off pretty much every time they interact. She and The Colonel are one of those bickering couples, who spend their lives hollering at each other.
  • Shelton (Girl Meets World) will play Longwell, a handsome, rich and entitled jock at the school. A rich kid, he despises The Colonel and all of his non-jock friends, making their lives as miserable as possible.
  • Connor (Riverdale) will play Kevin, Longwell's acolyte and not so bright friend. He is another lacrosse bro. He follows Longwell's lead in everything and blames The Colonel when a member of their clique gets expelled.
