Netflix Orders 10 Episodes of Comedy Inspired by Mindy Kaling's Childhood

Netflix has today given a series order to an untitled comedy co-created by Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project, Late Night) inspired by her childhood. The order is for a 10-episode first season.

The comedy centers on the complicated life of a modern-day first generation Indian American teenage girl.

Kaling created the comedy with Lang Fisher. They will executive produce with Howard Klein and David Miner. Universal Television, Kaling International and 3 Arts Entertainment will produce.

The series order marks one of the final projects Kaling has developed under her deal at Universal Television. A month ago, the writer-actor-producer signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. The untitled comedy is the latest project Kaling is working on this year. She also has a limited series adaptation of the film Four Weddings and a Funeral at Hulu as well as the film Late Night which she wrote and stars in opposite Emma Thompson.
