Amazon Announces Premiere Date for New Drama 'The Boys' Starring Karl Urban

Amazon has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original drama series The Boys.

All eight episodes of the first season will be available on Friday, July 26.

Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the drama is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes - who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods - abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It's the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought - the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

The drama stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara and Elisabeth Shue.

Eric Kripke developed the drama. He executive produces with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur, Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Robertson serve as co-executive producers. Dan Trachtenberg directed the premiere, while Kripke directed the finale. Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television, Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film produce.
