Casting News - May 9, 2019

Cinemax's Warrior and The CW's Nancy Drew.

  • After recurring throughout the first season, Dustin Nguyen has been promoted to series regular for the drama's upcoming second. Moreover, Chen Tang, Celine Buckens, Miranda Raison and Maria Elena Laas have joined the cast.
  • Nguyen plays Zing, a ruthless and unpredictable leader of the Fung Hai tong. His partnership with Mai Ling (Dianne Doan) and his unrelenting grip on Big Bill (Kieran Bew) position him to become a powerful new force in Chinatown.
  • Tang (Bosch) will play Hong, a somewhat eccentric but no less deadly hatchet man sent over from China to join the Hop Wei tong's ranks.
  • Buckens (Free Rein) will play Sophie Mercer, a young, rebellious woman, chafing against the constraints of her blue-blooded upbringing, who crosses family lines to take up the cause of the Irish workingmen.
  • Raison (Dark Heart) will play Nellie Davenport, a wealthy widow who uses her husband's fortunes to ease the plight of young girls forced into prostitution.
  • Laas (Vida) will recur as Rosalita Vega, a tough, savvy, opportunistic Mexican woman who runs a notorious fight club on San Francisco's famed Barbary Coast.
  • Scott Wolf has been tapped to replace Freddie Prinze Jr. on the upcoming drama starring Kennedy McMann. He has previously starred for six seasons in FOX's Party of Five, two seasons in The WB's Everwood, two seasons in ABC's V, two seasons in TNT's Perception and two seasons in NBC's The Night Shift.
  • He will play Carson Drew, Nancy's (McMann) father, a dynamic attorney who has become estranged from Nancy following the recent death of his beloved wife - but his attempts to reconnect with his daughter run aground when Nancy's murder investigation reveals unsettling secrets from Carson's own past. The recast happened because the creative team decided to pursue a new creative direction with the character.
