Netflix has today given a series order to the multi-camera family comedy The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia. The first season will feature 16 episodes.
When Ashley Garcia (newcomer Paulina Chavez) - the world's only 15-year-old robotics engineer and rocket scientist - gets the chance to work for NASA, she moves across the country to live with her fun-loving Uncle Victor (Jencarlos Canela, Telenovela), a pro football player turned high school coach who's never met a responsibility he can't shirk.
Mario Lopez and Seth Kurland created the comedy, with Kurland serving as showrunner for the first season. They executive produce with David Kendall and Mark Schulman. 3 Arts Entertainment produces in association with Netflix.
