Showtime Gives Series Order to Comedy 'Work In Progress' Produced by Lilly Wachowski

Showtime has today given a series order to the original comedy series Work In Progress, which counts Lilly Wachowski as one of its writers and executive producers. The comedy is expected to debut later in 2019.

The pilot was an official selection of Sundance's indie episodic program in 2019. Showtime acquired the rights at the festival and will turn it into an eight-episode series.

Abby McEnany and Tim Mason created the series, with Lilly Wachowski co-writing the first season with them. All three will executive produce with Lawrence Mattis, Ashley Berns, Josh Adler and Tony Hernandez. Circle of Confusion and Jax Media will produce in association with Showtime.

Chicago improv veteran McEnany stars as a fat, queer woman whose misfortune and despair unexpectedly lead her to a vibrantly transformative relationship.

The cast also features Theo Germaine, Karin Anglin, Celeste Pechous and Julia Sweeney.
