Casting News - Victoria Pedretti Returns as Star for Netflix's 'The Haunting of Bly Manor'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Casting News - June 28, 2019

CBS' MacGyver; HBO's Perry Mason; and Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor.

NETFLIX's THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR
  • Victoria Pedretti will return as the star of the anthology series' upcoming second installment. She was one of the breakout stars from the first season, The Haunting of Hill House. She next stars in the upcoming second season of Netflix's You.
  • She will play Dani, a young governess who is looking after two unique children.
HBO's PERRY MASON
  • Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Gayle Rankin and Lili Taylor will co-star on the upcoming limited series starring Matthew Rhys. Chalk starred for four seasons in FOX's Gotham and appeared in the Netflix limited series When They See Us. Whigham starred for five seasons in HBO's Boardwalk Empire and the first season of Amazon's Homecoming. Corddry recently appeared in the FX limited series Fosse/Verdon. Falcon starred for three seasons in USA's Queen of the South. Mays starred in the TNT limited series I Am the Night. Rankin currently stars in Netflix's GLOW, which returns for its third season in August. Taylor starred for three seasons in ABC's American Crime and recently recurred on Netflix's Chambers.
  • Chalk will play Paul Drake, a beat cop with a knack for detective work. He is an outlier, with the added challenge of having to navigate an extremely race-conscious city and a downright oppressive police department. He must weigh the responsibilities of being a husband and father against his desire to seek justice in a controversial and politically loaded case.
  • Whigham will play Pete Strickland, who is hired by Perry Mason (Rhys) as an extra set of eyes on his various investigations (some less than savory). He has a brotherly rapport with Mason and a cheerfully rakish demeanor that wins friends and influences damsels.
  • Corddry will play Matthew Dodson, a grocery store owner with a modest income. No one can explain why his 1-year-old son is targeted for ransom. His picture-perfect marriage begins to crumble as secrets are uncovered on all sides.
  • Falcon will play Lupe, a pilot and hard-drinking owner of a speakeasy. A she-demon of the California skies, she is the third place air speed champion of the world.
  • Mays will play Virgil, the Attendant at the City Morgue who is envious of the life of a private detective. A friend of Mason's, he regularly gives him access to bodies (and their personal effects).
  • Rankin will play Emily Dodson, the mother of a 1-year-old kidnapping victim. She is convinced that she is being punished by God for an unstated transgression.
  • Taylor will play Birdy McKeegan, a pious and deeply devout woman. As Sister Alice's (Tatiana Maslany) mother and closest advisor, she keeps things running smoothly at the Pentecostal church.
CBS' MACGYVER
  • Henry Ian Cusick has joined the drama's upcoming fourth season as a new series regular. He previously starred for four seasons in ABC's Lost, six seasons in The CW's The 100 and one season in FOX's The Passage.
  • He will play Russ, handsome and quick-witted Oxford-educated ex-military who is a master manipulator and salesman - skilled in propaganda and lie detection with an extremely high emotional intelligence. A very wealthy man, he's used to getting his way and not beyond enjoying the spoils of war: expensive suits, fast cars, private jets and a house in Monte Carlo.
