Netflix has today given a series order to the original comedy series The Healing Powers of Dude featuring a talking dog. The single-camera family comedy will produce eight episodes for its first season.
The comedy centers on Noah, an 11-year-old boy who has a social anxiety disorder. When he starts middle school, he turns to Dude, a sarcastic emotional support dog who might need Noah as much as Noah needs him.
The cast includes Tom Everett Scott, Larisa Oleynik, Laurel Emory, Mauricio Mara, Sophie Jaewon Kim and Jace Chapman, along with Dude the dog.
Erica Spates and Sam Littenberg-Weisberg created the comedy. They will executive produce with Dan Lubetkin and director Richie Keen. Chris Philips will serve as a producer. Blue Ant Studios will produce in association with Netflix.
