Casting News - July 22, 2019

Amazon's Lord of the Rings; CBS' SEAL Team; CBS All Access' Tell Me a Story; and Hulu's Reprisal.

HULU's REPRISAL
  • Lea DeLaria has landed a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Abigail Spencer. She previously appeared in all seven seasons of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black.
  • She will play Queenie, the crowned matriarch of The Banished Brawlers. She has played an integral part in the rise of the Bang-A-Rang, the chaotic burlesque club the gang is known for. In charge of the money and the shows, her tenure has accrued her a plethora of secrets. And when Doris (Spencer) makes her return as Katherine Harlow, many of those secrets will threaten to be unearthed.
CBS' SEAL TEAM
  • Jamie McShane and Rudy Dobrev have booked recurring roles on the drama's upcoming third season. McShane previously starred for three seasons in Netflix's Bloodline, one season in FOX's The Passage and in the USA limited series Unsolved. Dobrev's guest credits include CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles, Starz's Counterpart and CBS' Madam Secretary.
  • McShane will play Captain Lindell, a hard-charging leader who's dedicated to bringing a new generation of operational adaptability to the Navy's Tier One Command, and feels no allegiance to how things have been done in the past.
  • Dobrev will play Filip, a tough, capable field agent for Serbia's SIA. Having lived through multiple horrific wars in his homeland, he is a world-weary man who is dedicated to preventing the eruption of war again. Equally comfortable in the field or calling the plays from the sidelines, he runs covert intel recon with Mandy (Jessica Paré) to provide targeting information for Bravo Team in Serbia.
AMAZON's LORD OF THE RINGS
  • Markella Kavenagh is reportedly in final negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming drama set in the world of J.R.R.'s famous novels. She previously starred in the Amazon limited series Picnic at Hanging Rock and the BBC miniseries The Cry.
  • She will play Tyra. No additional details were immediately announced today.
CBS ALL ACCESS' TELL ME A STORY
  • Phillip Rhys has been cast in a recurring role on the anthology drama's upcoming second season. He previously starred for one season in Syfy's Nightflyers and had a recurring role on Freeform's Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
  • He will play Damien Hewett, a slick, straight shooting record executive to rising country music singer Ashley Rose (Natalie Alyn Lind).
