'Sexy Beast' Prequel Lands Series Order at Paramount Network

Paramount Network has today given a series order to the original drama series Sexy Beast - which will serve as a prequel to the 2000 feature film of the same name starring Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley. The drama will produce a 10-episode first season.

Set in 1990s London, Gal Dove is a brilliant thief who's seduced into the underworld through his relationships with gangster Don Love, criminal mastermind Teddy Bass and adult film star DeeDee.

Michael Caleo (The Sopranos, Ironside) developed the drama, with Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) set to direct. They will executive produce with Matt Manfredi, Phil Hay, Louis Mellis and David Scinto. Paramount Television, Anonymous Content and Familystyle will produce.

"We're thrilled Sexy Beast is joining our robust scripted slate of originals," said Keith Cox, President of Development and Production, Paramount Network and TV Land. "We were impressed with Michael Caleo's craft of the prequel, bringing these strong characters back to life for TV audiences, and with the exceptional style Karyn Kusama plans to bring to this series. We're also honored to team with our sister studio Paramount Television in collaborating on this exciting project."
