Hulu Gives Series Order to Hybrid Comedy 'Woke' Starring Lamorne Morris

Hulu has today given a series order to the original comedy series Woke which features animated sequences. An episode count and premiere date window for the comedy starring New Girl alum Lamorne Morris were not immediately announced.

Inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight, the comedy revolves around an African-American cartoonist, Keef (Morris), who is on the cusp of mainstream success when his mild comics take a decidedly provocative tone following a run-in with police. Now, Keef is in an irreversible state of "woke" as he struggles to navigate his day-to-day existence - without blowing up everything he's built - while animated objects invade his reality.

The comedy also stars Sasheer Zamata, Brandi Alexander, Lara Goldie and Blake Anderson.

Knight and Marshall Todd created the comedy, with Maurice Marable directing the pilot. They executive produce with Will Gluck, Richie Schwartz, Eric Christian Olsen, Kate Schumaecker and John Will. Sony Pictures Television, Olive Bridge Entertainment and Cloud Nine Productions produce.
