Casting News - September 12, 2019

HBO Max's Tokyo Vice and Netflix's Firefly Lane.

NETFLIX's FIREFLY LANE
  • Roan Curtis and Ali Skovbye will play the young leads on the upcoming drama starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke. Curtis previously recurred on Hulu's Shut Eye and Syfy's The Magicians. Skovbye has recurred on Hallmark's When Calls the Heart and Amazon's The Man in the High Castle.
  • Curtis will play the teenage version of Kate Mularkey (Chalke) in the 1970s. Hopelessly nerdy but endearing, she is the lonely, unpopular girl. That all changes when her new neighbor moves in - the mysterious and uber-cool Tully Hart.
  • Skovbye will play the teenage version of Tully Hart (Heigl) in the 1970s. A smart, gorgeous, effortlessly cool wild child who has just moved to Firefly Lane with her wacky hippie mom (Beau Garrett). She's exciting to be around, enviably glam and instantly popular with both girls and boys. But her one true friend is her geeky neighbor Kate.
HBO MAX's TOKYO VICE
  • Ken Watanabe has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Ansel Elgort. He received an Academy Award nomination in 2004 for his supporting role in The Last Samurai. He also earned Tony and Grammy Award nominations in 2015 for the musical The King and I. Recently, he has starred in the Godzilla film franchise.
  • He will play Hiroto Katagiri, a detective in the organized crime division of the Tokyo Police Department, who is also a father figure to Jake (Elgort). He guides him along the thin and often precarious line between the cops and the world of organized crime.
