Casting News - October 31, 2019

Amazon's The Power; Disney+'s Big Shot; HBO Max's Station Eleven; Netflix's Inventing Anna; and TNT's Snowpiercer.

  • Leslie Mann has been cast in a lead role on the upcoming drama created by Naomi Alderman based on her novel. This marks her first series regular television role. Her film credits include starring roles in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This Is 40, The Other Woman and Blockers.
  • She will play Margot Cleary-Lopez, the Mayor of Seattle and a loving wife and doting mother to three kids. She is a politician on the rise and until now, not only a woman in a man's world, but one with a questionable taste in jackets according to online trolls. Vital, charming and incredibly smart, she comes to see that power resides with strength rather than authority. As her career takes flight, it's her husband Rob and daughter Jos who privately feel the effects of her success most keenly; for one of them, where previously there was conflict now comes a greater understanding, and for the other where there was love, comes hurt and betrayal.
  • Sean Bean has joined the drama's upcoming second season as a new series regular. He previously starred in the first seasons of HBO's Game of Thrones and Sony Crackle's The Oath. He also starred in the Lord of the Rings film franchise.
  • No details were immediately released about the character he will be playing.
  • Julia Garner, Anna Chlumsky, Katie Lowes, Laverne Cox and Alexis Floyd will play the lead roles in the upcoming limited series created by Shonda Rhimes. Garner recently won an Emmy Award for her supporting performance in Netflix's Ozark. Chlumsky previously starred for seven seasons in HBO's Veep. Lowes starred for seven seasons in ABC's Scandal, which was also created by Rhimes. Cox appeared in all seven seasons of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. Floyd recurred on the third season of Freeform's The Bold Type.
  • Garner will play Anna Delvey, a young woman in her mid-20s with a hard to place European accent who takes New York by storm. Either a brilliant businesswoman or a scammer extraordinaire, she in turn inspires loyalty, compassion, contempt, and obsession - all while leaving behind an emotional body count.
  • Chlumsky will play Vivian, a reporter working to salvage her career with just the right story. The Anna Delvey story is her golden ticker - she is willing to face any problem to get it. But as she works on the Anna story, there is one problem she never expected - Anna herself. The more Vivian pursues the truth about Anna, the more attached to Anna she becomes.
  • Lowes will play Rachel, a natural born follower and her blind worship of Anna almost destroys her job, her credit and her life. But while her relationship with Anna is her greatest regret, the woman she becomes because of Anna may be Anna's greatest creation.
  • Cox will play Kacy Duke, a celebrity trainer and life coach. She gets sucked into the Anna whirlwind but is mature and centered enough to stay out of any real trouble. When she least expects it, in the wake of Anna's crimes, Kacy finds herself becoming a coach to more than just Anna.
  • Floyd will play Neff, an aspiring filmmaker working as a hotel concierge. She knows New York and its people. She's all style, all substance - more complex than most. She's drawn in by Anna's charm, but while passionate and loyal, she's nobody's fool.
  • David Wilmot will co-star on the upcoming limited series starring Mackenzie Davis and Himesh Patel. He has previously recurred on TNT's The Alienist. He next stars in National Geographic's upcoming drama Barkskins.
  • He will play Clark, a corporate consultant who gave up artistic ambitions but discovers a hero within himself in the post-apocalyptic landscape.
  • Shiri Appleby and Yvette Nicole Brown are set as series regulars on the upcoming dramedy starring John Stamos. Appleby starred for four seasons in Lifetime's UnREAL. Brown starred for five seasons in NBC's Community and three seasons in CBS' The Odd Couple.
  • Appleby will play Holly, the good-humored and down-to-earth assistant basketball coach.
  • Brown will play Sherilyn, the no-nonsense dean of Westbrook School for Girls.
  • The ensemble cast will also feature Richard Robichaux as George, Sophia Mitri Schloss as Emma, Nell Verlaque as Louise, Tiana Le as Destiny, Monique Green as Olive, Tisha Custodio as Carolyn and Cricket Wampler as Samantha.
