Netflix Announces Premiere Date for Comedy 'AJ and the Queen' Starring RuPaul

Netflix has today announced the premiere date for the upcoming original comedy series AJ and the Queen starring multiple Emmy Award winner RuPaul (RuPaul's Drag Race).

All 10 episodes of the first season will be available on Friday, January 10.

The comedy follows Robert Lee (RuPaul), better known as the drag queen Ruby Red, who dreams of opening his own drag club. After years of performing in clubs all across the country and saving every dime, he finally gets his chance. That is, until he's swindled by a charismatic grifter and his eye-patch wearing partner-in-crime. With his heart broken and money stolen, Robert has no choice but to pick up the pieces and start over, and a cross country Ruby Red roadshow provides the perfect opportunity to do just that. But when AJ, a scrappy, streetwise 10-year-old escaping a difficult home life, crosses paths with Robert, he becomes a de facto parent. An unlikely pair must find a way to get along, navigate through tough times and learn from one another.

In addition to RuPaul, the comedy stars Josh Segarra, Izzy G., Michael-Leon Wooley, Katerina Tannenbaum and Tia Carrere.

RuPaul co-created the comedy with Michael Patrick King. They executive produce with Jhoni Marchinko. Warner Bros. Television and MPK Productions produce.
